Greg, Not Gregory

Greg called me the other day needing new “headshots.” I think he was a little worried when I said we were going to the train tracks.

To me a “portrait” is not so much a picture of a person’s face as it is a picture of the person behind the face. Who is he? What does he do? Where is he going? What does he wear when he goes there? What mood is he in when he gets there?

Greg is a jazz musician, so one of the shots we wanted to try was the classic jazz guitarist’s pose.

Of course, we also wanted a nice smiling shot (with the other guitar).

Did I mention Greg’s versatility? In addition to jazz guitar, he also plays bass and piano, and probably some other instruments too.

I think he calls it ‘the curse’ — that musical gift that floods your brain and won’t let go. He was jamming pretty much the whole time we were shooting. Fine by me. I loved hearing him play!

I love this shot.

Greg, just so you know, Bradley chose the music. (Which is interesting since this was the song that was playing in the car while we were driving all over Metuchen shooting pictures. Must have been fate. By the way, Bradley thinks your pictures are very cool.)

  1. Those are so fun! I love the 3rd image of the bass player! Makes me remember my college days when I played the double bass!

    Great job!
