I am worried about my Japanese Red Maple. I received her last year for mothers day and she is beautful. Over the winter all of her leaves fell. I am not sure if this is common. It is late March and no leaves have emerged. I see some little brown buds but no red buds. Please let me know if this is common and when she should bloom.
Thank you!

Hi Carol -- where are you located? In my neck of the woods, the Japanese red maples are still outwardly dormant. -- jules

Hi Julie:
I wrote this haiku last month. Should have sent it then!

Marcia

Overnight

All up and down my street,

maple trees hearing the call,

opened their red leaves!
