Arborvitae can get pretty big, so it depends on the cultivar, but in general, keep small trees away from the foundation by at least 15 feet. And plant them 3 or 4 feet apart. If given enough room and light, they'll grow and spread and fill in, but if you crowd them, they won't grow nearly as well. Hope that helps.

I want to plant arborvitae next to my house; how far from the foundation of the house do I need to be in order to give the roots adequate space, while also protecting the foundation? How far should I space the arborvitae apart from each other?

Thank you for your reply.
