A Gift for Melanie and James

Usually, the very first picture of any family photo shoot is a dud because usually, it takes children a while to get used to me.

Not this time!

Isn’t he cute?

He warmed up to me after about a grand total of, I’m guessing, 10 seconds! Yay!

It took his little sister a bit longer than that, but she got used to me pretty quickly too!

Isn’t she cute in her princess outfit?

I love this shot of her and her mommy. Melanie’s friends gave her and James a really nice gift certificate for a photo shoot. What a great gift idea!

Melanie invited her parents to come up for the session too. We got lots of nice pictures of the family.

The tea party shots are my favorite ones. So sweet.

The little girl’s room is beautifully decorated. I love this display of pretty little dresses. The stenciling was done by her grandmother. I instantly recognized her beautiful work from stenciling in another house I’d shot in. I was so honored to meet the artist!

Here’s some of her work in her grandson’s room. I’m in awe! (And I have her number if you’re interested in contacting her to stencil your child’s room!)

I love the pictures of the little girl checking out the duck. She was enthralled with the eyes! There are lots of these adorable pictures in thier slide show. If you’d like to see it, please e-mail Melanie or James for the link.

So happy!

We were able to capture lots of candid moments with her.

I love the pictures of Melanie smiling!

Her son has so many adorable expressions, from this one — I don’t remember where the pouty lip came from …

… to this one, a pensive stare. I asked him to look into the camera and tell me when he could see the mirror move. He liked that little game, but he let me have it when I suggested there might be a little person in there making it move. No fooling this boy! He’s smart!
Thanks, James and Melanie, for a wonderful day! Say hi to the kids and your parents for me and I hope you enjoy your slide show!
Regular blog readers: if you would add this family to your prayer list, I know they would sincerely appreciate it! Thanks!

Julie,
These photos are just wonderful! They could not be better…or more appreciated. You managed to capture the sweet joy of my grandchildren and of the love we share. Thank you also for your kind words for “the artist”. I am so thankful for all these gifts that you have captured so beautifully for all of us.
