Sunscream

One would think that an old mamarazzi who slaps sunscreen on children like it’s butter on corn-on-the-cob would put sunscreen on herself as well.

One would think.

Instead, the mamarazzi spent the days after these pictures were taken hobbling around with feet the size of a Mexican cantaloupe and the color of her car.

Those of you who’ve seen her car know why it’s sweetly referred to as “the tomato.”

Thus, one could imagine a tomato the size of a Mexican cantaloupe with toes on one end…

…this being a fitting visual description of the mamarazzi’s feet for the last several days.

Mike laments, “Why don’t you just post a picture of your sunburned feet?”

“Uh, lemme think (what a concept)…no.”
That is Gregory’s foot.

But, let it be a lesson to you, my dear loyal blog readers.

WEAR SUNSCREEN when going to the beach…

…even when wearing long pants.

You never know when the urge to roll the pants legs might overtake the brain cells that compell one to slap sunscreen on children like it’s butter.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

  1. One can tell from the “reverse oreo” picture at the top that this mama wasn’t too liberal with the sunscreen on her eldest child this summer.

Thanks for taking Gabriel along - he had a blast!

PS - Call it morbid curiosity but: not even one tiny pic of the feet???

  3. I still have wrinkles on the tops of my feet from a severe “foot burn” when I was in my teens! And I don’t have a picture. Oh well.
The next thing you will get is poison ivy! Ha!
Leaves of three let it be. remember that one?

  4. Wow…I remember LOTS of poison ivy in the woods between our houses when we were kids. I used to look like the “elephant man” all the time with that stuff! ick!

  5. CG,
I have a “fond” memory of picking blackberries in the patch next to your house one weekend. We (probably Bobby, Steve, Joe and others) picked several medium sized buckets full that day, took them home much to our parents, who were overjoyed at the haul. Well then my mom looked a bit closer at my scrawny little body and discovered that I was covered with ticks. I probably had at least a dozen on me! Well that was about the most disconcerting thing that can happen to a 10 year old (I guess I was about that age). I had terrible dreams of all sorts of insects crawling in my bed that night. Yuck! I am still horrified of ticks and spiders as well …so this post can refer to the Mr. Idaho article of this week!
I hope you are doing well. I think of our Aiken days often.

  6. Brother Bill -
Ew…I don’t really remember the blackberries/tick episode, but it sounds awful. You poor thing! I do remember so much of that kind of thing living in those woods–and behind the golf course. Great places for kids to have fun (and get in trouble), don’t you think? Those were great days and I miss them too.
    Take care! Susan :o)
