Like Mother Like Daughter

Click the picture
— or click here —
for the slide show from Andi’s family session.

(By the way, my 13-year-old son, Bradley, picked out the music for this one. It’s perfect! Thanks for your help, Bradley!)

There’s a really great tree-related contest question in this one. Answer it and win the family an 8×10 print. Have fun! Above, for a bonus print credit for Andi, what kind of tree is that in the background? I love that picture!

Forget the tree! Aren’t they cute together!

She’s adorable.

Everybody loves the jump shots.
(I love that sequence in the slide show.)

She has beautiful eyes.

Believe it or not, this one and the one above were taken underneath the Metuchen train bridge downtown. It’s a great place to shoot because of the cool rocks in the background, and the overhead shade, and the great big softbox effect created by the underpass opening. Very dramatic.

Pretty light in her hair from the quickening sunset of approaching winter. I love this time of year! Great clothes, great light. It’s perfect.

TODAY’S CONTEST QUESTION

To win this family an 8×10 print and to win enormous helpings of blog praise for yourself, what kind of tree makes this gigundo leaf?

Thanks Andi! I love your slide show!

  2. WOW! They really came out beautiful!! The colors are amazing behind those two beautiful faces! Really spectacular. So, does Andi get a free 8 X 10 EVERY time someone submits a correct answer? Then, japanese maple and
    sycamore.

  5. Based on the beautiful pictures and the music that accompanied the slide show I would say that Andi’s children have inherited her casual, comfortable personality and spirt. Andi you have a BEAUTIFUL daughter and I am sure your son is equally handsom. Best of everything to each of you!

Tree is a Japanese RED Maple or possibly a Japanese LACE LEAF maple can not tell the size of the tree or the shape of the leaf from the picture but it does look like a lace leaf.

  7. Love the photos! Each one is just more beautiful than the other. Andi’s going to have a hard time picking a favorite. But I must say, I especially like the first one on the blog of Andi kissing her daughter.

  10. I knew the Japanese Maple (I should, after growing up there). ;P

For the big leaf — I was going to say “a big tree,” but I’m late to the game.

  11. Andi,
I’m SO glad you like your pictures!

Joanne, you were absolutely right about the sycamore. Way to go! Honestly, I didn’t know sycamore leaves got that big. I thought it was a bigleaf maple, but now I realize that bigleaf maples don’t live around here. Learn something new everyday.

Paul, you were the first to guess lace leaf japanese maple. Good job!

Andi, as you already know, your free 8×10 and bonus awaits!! :)
