Nice camera--lots of luck! I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-F828. You're right the "big" digitals are heavy. I've seen a carrier that straps on like a baby carrier and holds a camera in front of you. It transfers the weight to your shoulders and back rather than your neck. I don't know who makes it.
