My Holiday Cards: 11th Design

DESIGN 11: FRONT

DESIGN 11: INSIDE
Message: “May your new year be filled with everyday miracles. Happy holidays” (The card was signed underneath the family picture.)

DESIGN 11: BACK
Specs: Vertical 5×7 card on archival linen with the inside design spanning the inside spread, folded in the middle.

Do you know this family? Help them win a prize by leaving a comment about their card design!

What I love about this design — When you are holding the actual card, your brain tells you you’ve got a swatch of suede in your hand! The faux texture on the front, combined with the rich luxurious feel of the archival linen paper leads you to wonder about the “fabric.” You can’t help running your fingers over the card and noticing how wonderful it feels! This contributes to the drawing-in effect of those adorable photographs on the front. For the inside design, I drew from an earlier creation in which I used a large image of the baby measuring a full 5×7. Extended family members who receive this card could frame that portion if they wish to, so for the price of a card design, this family also got to send out frameable 5×7 images. His eyes are so sparkly in that photo and I love the one little tooth poking out of that gorgeous smile! The message was no accident either, given this little boy’s history, and certainly the majority of people who would be receiving this card would have prayed for him, and would appreciate that message all the more, for this little boy truly is a miracle!

Cheers! And thanks for visiting the blog!

  5. the best part of this card for me is the saying inside right next to the picture. Miracles is what children are and this baby is adorable. Such a blessing in this world. I like the family picture iside and how the family could sign the card under it. I personally like hand written signatures. It is more personal.

  10. What can we say? The baby is beautiful, and an adorable child with an incredible smile just makes an awesome card. We love the design. More than one picture is always a plus and in this card you get your fill and then some. The colors are spectacular. Fall is such a colorful time of year and it is truly captured in the photgraphs. The pictures themselves are so natural and capture the child’s spirit. Isn’t that what great photgraphy is all about? Beautiful family, gorgeous child, natural photographs, colorful card…what more can a person ask for? Absolutely nothing. Great job!

  16. I have been receiving Christmas cards for 60 years, but I have never received a card as beautiful as this one. Evan’s card made me cry as soon as I opened it. He is just the sweetest and happiest little boy, and it shows in these amazing pictures. I want to frame it, but I just can’t decide which side I want to show. Maybe I can get my hands on an extra one. (hint hint) I just love it!

  17. This is the best card my wife and I have ever received. Although it is a Christmas card we plan on keeping it out for a very long time. We look at it every day and my wife blows Evan a kiss each time she passes his little face. I am so proud of my grandson. We love you Evan.

  18. When I found out that this little boy had to have brain surgery I was devastated, but as I look at him now I can’t believe how fabulous he looks. You would never have known he had anything wrong with him. Great photography by the way, and the card itself was a great choice. have a great life Evan. We are praying for you.

  19. My wife Karen made such a big fuss about me seeing this card I was beginning to think she was crazy, but after seeing it I immediately realized what all the fuss was about. What a cute kid. The card was great. We should have done something like that when our kids were small. Good work.
