On Turning One

Their youngest had his 1st birthday party the day before our shoot. I love the picture of him above! “Natural born cutie” — how cute is HE? I’m not usually a fan of shirts with logos or lettering for photo shoots, but throw one on in the last few minutes, no problem!
Â

It’s tradition! I believe this is the birthday hat one must wear on one’s birthday if one is a member of this family.
Â

^ 1st birthday portrait ala Jules ^
Â

One reason I love doing family sessions is that it’s important to make sure ALL the children get into the family albums. (As the fourth child, I can count on one hand the number of photographs I have of me as a child. But my oldest brother? There must be thousands.)
Â

We went to a farm for apple picking. I LOVE Eileen’s sweater!
Â

A crop of this image has been my banner for a while now. Does that tell you how behind I am in my editing? Don’t even get me started on all my various computer issues over the last 2 months. Add election day into that mix and I was TOAST.
Â

I love pretty much any picture of mother and child, especially if it’s an unposed moment.
Â

I love upside down shots. Children, most of them anyway, often smile naturally when flung upside down by dad!
Â

Let’s all pretend they’re holding hands. Close your eyes. Ready? OPEN! See? Holding hands! Ok, we tried.
Â

I think they actually are holding hands in this one.
Â

Hey sweetie!
Â

What would a day at the playground be without twirling around a lightpost?
Â

There were lots of people in the playground that day. Shooting with a wide aperture helped to isolate my subject in the crowd.
Â

^ Julie’s signature car shot! ^ Love it!
Â

AJ has the double-child-carry concept down!
Â

Watch out on the roads when this one turns 17!
Â

Who’s birthday is it? YAY!
Â

Just a little spot metering here. Same set up as the picture above and below — backyard watching balloons fly all over the place. So cool!
Â

Those rocket balloons are awesome!
Â

Thanks Eileen and AJ! You are now my example for the cheek-to-cheek posed shot! Hope you enjoyed your slide show!
All my love,
jules

Fabulous photos of a BEAUTIFUL family!
Love Photos No. 5 and 10! I can see photo 10 as a canvas gallery wrap.
Julie–we love the pictures!!! Thanks for another awesome job! eileen
Eileen — julie here — I keep trying to send you email, and it keeps generating an error on my end. Don’t know what the problem is, but I’ve sent email to other people with no problem. Anyway, I’ll try calling you when the hour is decent. So glad you like your slide show!!! — jws
Beautiful Julie! The double-child-carry concept is a rare art form only few dads have mastered. AJ has it down.
Awesome as always!
