A Scrapbooking Event

Last month, my church held a scrapbook fundraiser.

The social center was open all day for people to bring photos and special mementoes and get help putting scrapbooks together.

I could only stay for a few minutes, but it sure looked like fun!

The event was sponsored by the Presbyterian Women. For a small fee, participants could come in for the full day, or for a half day. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefitted the church’s mission fund.

Some people brought baskets full of things they’d been meaning to get organized for years!

Others worked on specific scrapbook pages. Above, Nancy put together pages from her family’s trip to Florida.

The event was organized by Laura Cubbage-Draper (her hand is raised), a member of the church and a Creative Memories consultant.

Laura brought lots of scrapbooking tools — pages, scissors, decorations, special trimmers, album examples — lined along the wall for inspiration.

Nancy and Mary were digging through Laura’s supplies, choosing background colors and special page designs.

Laura’s scrapbooking tools are well-organized! Above, pockets hold scores of specially-shaped hole-punches.

As hands worked, fellowship in the hall was warm and friendly.

Reflecting on special memories is the second best thing about scrapbooking, second only to sharing those memories with generations to come.
