Rachel and Pete had just moved into their new home a couple of weeks before our session. I think it’s so cool that they did their session right after moving!

Keep reading for today’s blog contest!

    FAVE ALERT!

Since they had just moved in, we had to do front porch pictures. I kept stalling, waiting for the sun to go down behind the trees to give it more of an evening look with the warmth of the porch light evident in the shots. My brain is always thinking about stuff like that at a shoot.

Their huge dog does a little flying too. I think he loves his new backyard!

Pillow, heated blanket, or one big dog: what do you think that tan fuzzy thing is?

I think Pete was standing behind me making silly faces or maybe he was making fun of me. Not sure which.

It was so great that nobody else was around at the park that day because Rachel and Pete could let the boys roam around without really worrying too much about them.

From the emotion on the boy’s face to the passion of his outstretched arms, there is so much going on in this shot. Add to that the graphic lines and it’s fun to study it. Look at the vertical lines in the crib leading to the horizontal lines in his shirt. Then add to that the perpendicular lines of the rug against the wood floor. It’s like a puzzle.

What I love about this room is the colors!

What I love about this shot is the boys about to attack dad. I kept saying, “Attack dad,” and the boys were looking at me like, “Are you crazy?” I don’t think they were quite old enough to understand that I meant, you know, attack dad in a fun way.

This is so cool. At the end of our shoot, Rachel wanted to capture the boys baking brownies with her! I love it!

    Rachel and Pete,
I work with Rachel’s dad and he shares pics of your family frequently with us – he’s always beaming when he talks about you and your little ones! I really enjoyed watching this video – it’s such a great way to capture this special time in your lives with your children. I wish you a very happy holiday – the boys are just precious!!

    Julie,

I watch this everyday because it’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Your work is wonderful but I think this is extra special since you had my daughter and family to work with.

I can’t thank you enough for something I’ll be watching forever.

    God Bless!

    Thanks,

    Pete

    Julie–
The photos are amazing. The music was just the right pick. The whole presentation brought tears to my eyes. You captured the Galla’s true spirit and beauty.
Centennial Gardens, the park, is a great back drop. YOU did a great job.

    Julie,

These are absolutely amazing. I’ve taken on photography as a hobby mostly driven by my 3 kiddos. I work right next to Pete and anxiously waited for your pics. Your pics inspire me to capture their childhood even more. Thank you.

The staircase shot is a home run!

  6. CeeJay says:

Do you shoot all these with just one lens?

Hi CeeJay — 2 cameras, 5 lenses, but I most often use the three that are asterisked.
    *14-24/2.8
    *28-70/2.8
    *135/2.0
    70-200/2.8
