Love What You Do
Â

This is Lucybug, one of my “year in the life” beauties.
Â

And this was the day she was supposed to have her 3-month shoot.
Â

But I was sick. And Lucybug was a sleepy girl.
Â

Rescheduling was pretty much impossible considering the busy schedules of Lucybug’s family and mine. So I asked her mom and dad to meet me in a park near my house. I figured that way I at least wouldn’t spread my germs in their home, where I would normally shoot. And I wouldn’t have to drive far. And we’d make it short since it was a rather chilly day anyway.
Â

Big yawn. (Yeah, sweetie, I know how you feel. That camera was SO heavy!)
Â

It’s not as if you can just reschedule and do 3-month pictures when she’s 6 months.
Â

Look at her! Is she just the sweetest? Awwww. I love the fall color palette in these images too!
Â

I was so thankful to Mike and Sharon for driving up to my house so I wouldn’t have to drive to theirs. I don’t think I would have made it.
Â

But being outside for a half hour was actually a bit refreshing. And if I’d cancelled, I would have missed the chance to capture this sweet kiss.
Â

And look! She’s waking up!
Â

I understand she’s quite the smiley baby when she’s playing at home.
Â

Thank you again, Sharon and Mike, for being so understanding about my yucky cold that day. I am SO glad we shot anyway, and so glad for the chance to capture images of such a beautiful family!
Here’s my prayer for Lucy: May you grow up doing what you love and loving what you do enough to love doing it even when you’re feeling kind of lousy. Amen.
Each time your photos arrive, I relish the beauty in each of them, Julie. It’s so great that we can keep in touch this way. I’m going to send you a video clip that had me laughing out loud. It involves a cat, but you’ll never guess what he’s doing. The owner was upset that his water bills were getting higher each month. He found the culprit.
Oooh, can’t wait to see it! Bradley will LOVE any cat video that makes him laugh. Karl is his snookums. Thanks for the kind words about my work, professor! — jws
