Since I’ll be at work tonight, I won’t be able to make it to the 7th and 8th grade winter concert. I’m so thankful the school welcomed parents to the performance this morning for the rest of the students.

I had a great seat at the top of the bleachers, and a great view of Bradley. The girls sitting around me wanted to know who I was. “That’s my son,” I replied, “the tallest one on the back row.” The girl sitting in front of me said, “I see him! That was easy.”

The orchestra played the theme from Halo 3.

    The audience loved it!

I love how the directors choose music that features different instruments. They played a song that had a nice feature section for the basses.

The leaders of our music department do a great job!

The chorus surprised the audience by starting their first piece, “Dancing Queen,” with no introduction. People were still chatting and mulling about. What a cool way to command our attention! I loved it! (Big Abba fan here. Duh.)

If you’re planning on going to the concert tonight, take note of the amazing job all those kids do on pitch and enunciation. I could understand every word they sang and it sounded fabulous. I especially liked the rhythm piece they performed accompanied only by the timpani.

The 7th grade band played a difficult piece that featured these three trombonists. I don’t know how much these kids practice, but it sure seemed to me like they must practice a lot! Well done!

As the 8th grade band set up, Bradley and his clarinet buddies caught me shooting them with my long lens. Must be pretty embarrassing having a mamarazzi mom.

The 8th grade band sounded fantastic! These kids are so lucky to have such a fun and charismatic director!

If you’re going, enjoy the concert tonight! Hopefully Bradley wouldn’t have stuffed his concert clothes in his gym bag.

Great performance! I do agree the kids keep progressing each year they sing and play. Our music department in Metuchen is Fab! Thanks Julie for being the Metuchenrazzi for all of us, as I forgot my camera this morning. At least, now my trombonist can view herself here! Hugs to you!
