Is There Such Thing as ‘Just a Headshot’?

 

I took this picture at the end of Dan’s headshot session, which turned into Dan & Maggy’s headshot session, and since the performer-kids were home, might as well see if we can get promo shots for them too, and while we’re all here, some family shots would be fun. It’s never “just a headshot” for me. I’m obsessive like that.

 

You may remember Dan from the recent blog post, “Dan’s Beard Series.” This was the followup, post-beard session, a requirement since Dan does not usually wear a beard.

 

If you’d like to see an awesome slide show of highlights from the headshot-turned-family session, shoot me or Dan an email. Dan is an actor so we were going for several different looks: “suburban dad” was easy.

 

I can’t remember all the directions we were rattling off to Dan, but this one might have been “good cop.”

 

“Side effects may include…”

 

“Tool guy.”

 

As a real estate agent, Maggy needed to have an updated headshot available too. I have to admit, I still love the ones we did of her a few years ago in front of a bold red house she had listed.

 

The window light in her beautiful dining room really brings out her gorgeous eyes.

 

That’s Tobie, aka “the small dog.” Even small dogs get headshots when I’m around.

 

This is Tobie’s newest friend, Brewster, aka “BRUUUUUCE.” Brewster is an adorable 5-month-old.

 

I had no trouble convincing Sammie to pose for me. With a beautiful voice, she’s super-involved in musical theater. Not a bad idea for her to have some promo shots on hand.

 

Photogenic? Naaaaah, not a BIT.

 

What kind of shampoo does that woman use? I want some.

 

Need some of that makeup too.

 

I’m not sure she’s wearing much makeup except a little mascara and the perfect touch of eye shadow. Between that and the reflections from the window and my reflector, her eyes are stunning. Wow, Sammie, I LOVE your pictures!

 

Wally was a little more difficult to convince that it was his turn.

 

But he’s got the actor gene too. I told him it would be useful to have promo shots available, and he really hit the mark! Again, I love how the light really brings out his eyes.

 

Maggy had to leave the room in order to coax Wally’s “GQ look.”

 

This one didn’t take any coaxing at all. We had been trying to get a certain angle, which he didn’t seem comfortable with, so I just told him to relax. Voila!

 

I love the shots of Wally and Sammie together.

 

But the family shots are priceless! Makes headshot-day that much more special! I love it when that happens!
