Tribute to an American Family
Â

This is the fourth “year-in-the-life” shoot with Kirsten and her son. This time, we invited a few extra guests.
Â

He’s matured so much since our last session in August.
Â

Still, he wasn’t quite walking yet when we did this session in November just before his first birthday. Check back tomorrow for the Christmas card design I made for them using pictures from this session. It was adorable! Our fifth shoot is coming up in a few weeks. I can’t wait to see how much more he can do now!
Â

This is granddad.
Â

I love shots like this.
Â

Love this one too.
Â

But this is my favorite. I’m not sure if I can really say why on the blog, but it just is. I’ve grown to know and love this family so much over the past year.
Â

That’s Lesley, his aunt.
Â

FAVE!
Â

His step-granddad came in near the end of our session. This shot makes that kitchen look big!
Â

If I were Kirsten, I’d love this playful picture. (I don’t have very many of me and my boys, since I’m usually behind the camera, not in front of it.)
Â

I love blurry backgrounds.
Â

I also LOVE Kirsten’s mom’s farmhouse. I don’t remember what year it was built, but it has the ORIGINAL ICE HOUSE. How cool is that?
Â

This is Lisa and her daughter.
Â

Isn’t she adorable?
Â

The background is the backside of the farmhouse’s fireplace.
Â

Instructions: Place sheet on floor. Fluff sheet around baby. Take smiley photographs.
Â

That sheet trick works on older children too.
Â

Babies are SO curious about everything we do, especially if “we” is grandma.
Â

PILEON!
Â

Fave. Love that cool phone.
Â

While taking this picture, I was singing (badly) a lullaby that I wrote for Bradley many moons ago. I still sing it to the G-rex sometimes. To the tune of Edelweiss, it goes like this:Â
Go to sleep
Slumber deep
You are mommy’s sweet baby
Close your eyes
Till you arise
Every morning I’ll pray for you
Baby, my love, may you learn and grow
Learn and grow forever
Go to sleep
My baby sweet
I’ll see you in your dreams.
I love that lullaby.
Kirsten, I hope you love this slide show as much as I do. Took me forever to find the right music, but I think I totally nailed it! Can’t wait for our next shoot!
I don’t know how people have enough room on their walls to accommodate all the great pictures from a shoot — these all look wonderful! I like how the peekaboo smiles on the boy and girl are different reflecting their different ages.
Julie,
