That Year Went By So Fast

I love this picture! A new angle on the bath shot!
    :D
This is the fifth session in Kirsten’s “year-in-the-life” package featuring her son. Let me know if you’d like to see the slide show. This sweet little boy has changed so much since I first met him at his baptism!

I have throughly enjoyed watching the little baby grow into a toddler. Check him out about a year ago, last June.

And, here, in August at Battery Park City.

He loves his granddad. I got lots of great pictures of the family at the November shoot. These pictures are going to make a really awesome baby book!

I love his playroom! Check out that castle!

That door will not change in size. We can try a similar shot 17 years from now when he goes off to college. What a contrast it will be! I love pictures like that.

    “Blub, blub, blub.”

Here’s another good scale shot. Look how much taller Uncle Tom is now. That won’t last for long. I also like the contrast of black and white and the clean lines. The image is so simple, yet tells a sweet story too.

LOVE this one! Lesley and Tom are a great aunt and uncle!

Again, a simple image from the opposite side of the river bank. I shot this session in March, so I imagine the colors here are quite different now with the new greens of spring taking over that background.

I’m a big fan of sunflare!

    He loves his grandmother too.

She looks fabulous, especially in the pretty light of this cosmetics store! Stores can be great places to shoot (when the store manager allows it, cough, cough, GapKids in Tokyo).

Kirsten’s friend, Evan, lent a hand for our shoot this time.

    So sweet.

I love how Kirsten dresses the baby, or maybe how he tries to avoid being dressed. So cute.

Lots of opportunities for hugs …

I love the composition on this one.

Composition on this one is cool too. Kirsten’s extended foot, graphically speaking, pulls your eye up and into the important part of the picture.

That monkey is his favorite little stuffed friend. I think it’s important to capture those special toys photographically because before you know it, that monkey might be taking a backseat to Legos and and Airsoft (as in my house, for example).

I love sessions that last a while because we have the opportunity to capture most of what might happen on a regular day in this little boy’s life. Everybody loves watching an active toddler sleep. Naps are good!

Much later, after his bath, time for jammies and more hugs.

    Another fave!

Kirsten, I look forward to hanging out with you again in the future so I can check up on my little buddy. It has been an honor and a priviledge getting to know you and your family and friends! Happy Mother’s Day, Kirsten!

    Julie,

I am a huge fan of your photography. These are wonderful memories that anyone would want to have of their own family.

With regards to your new “Wonder Years” offering – fabulous. This is exactly why I love to make slide shows. Every time I’ve taken pics and made shows for my family, they have to get out the tissue box before watching! It’s neat to be able to recreate the experiences through story and images so people can go back and view it over and over again. I prefer still images to video though I imagine some video might start to creep into my shows now and then.

    Love love love your work!

    Debbie

I love how your work melts my heart Julie…and that’s big when you melt dad’s heart. Just precious moments that will be treasured for eternity. Have a great weekend and happy Mother’s Day. :)

  3. Julie – these are just beautiful! What you do is really so special. Happy Mothers Day!

This is really beautiful, just a wonderful peek into their life together. I think my favorite part is the getting dressed sequence… been there, done that! So sweet!

    Julie,

What a perfect Mother’s Day gift! I love it! And so does Evan. I can’t believe a year has gone by either but I am so so so glad that you documented this journey for me!

    Love, kirsten
