Smelling the ‘Roses’
- My dogwood on Friday. I think I pretty much missed the prettiest dogwood time while I was in Japan. But oh so worth it! I’m working on editing the Japan pictures now and there is one of a dogwood just coming out with — I swear — a snail-like shape to the unfolding blossoms! It’s SO cool! I’ve been so busy redesigning my blog and working on Japan pictures that I needed a little break. My little tree break on Friday was well worth the time! More tree pictures coming soon!

Had to come back and look at your blog. Dogwood season always brings me back here to check out your new pictures. Always, always gorgeous!
I am hoping to get a new dogwood for the yard this fall. Looking at them know so I know what their flowers will look like. I finally have room to add a tree. Sadly my pin oaks are dying from the ravages of bacterial leaf scorch. Two more need to be cut down this year.
I am happy to report that my Copper Beech is looking fabulous! It was because of this tree I came across your wonderful site. Several years ago a large section of the yard was to be torn up and I was worried about losing my beech. I am forever grateful for your help during that time.
Thanks, Megan! I totally remember that story about the beech. I’d love to see a picture of it! With the dogwood, I recommend that you test the soil and check your neighborhood for well-established dogwoods, determining if your soil and their soil is similar. Dogwoods are freakish like that.
