Meet Yao Ming and Shaq

Planting flowers must be a traditional Mother’s Day activity. I did not realize this until I had children of my own, but it’s true. Gregory brought home several different little flowers from school and church, which we planted on Sunday. Above, the two sunflowers we planted have been dubbed “Yao Ming” (that’s the tall one) and “Shaq,” the shorter.

The problem with Gregory, a white shirt, and dirty hands is his habit of wiping dirty hands on his shirt.

Yao Ming and Shaq are headed out of the plastic cup and into their new home.

Mike was the planter, Gregory was the waterer.

I LOVE DIRT!

Bet you can tell which one is Yao Ming and which one is Shaq.

Three days later, Yao Ming has far outpaced Shaq in the growth department.

There’s Shaq. Hey little buddy. So cute.
Now if we can manage to keep the squirrels away from my sweet Mother’s Day gift, we’ll have some awesome pictures of sunflowers come fall.

Looking forward to updates on Yao and Shaq. Please don’t kill them, Julie!
Ha ha. Very funny.
