Homeroom Wars

I had a great time at the Homeroom Wars!

If you’d like the link to the slide show page, email me with your teacher’s name and I’ll send it to you. It’s awesome! I love the graduation dance pictures!

The kids had a great time.

That’s Brad in the back. I love this picture of him!

Tug o’ war: the must-have homeroom war game.

When an event is over, and there’s likely to be cheering, that’s when I shoot blindly, hoping I land on a great reaction shot. It almost always works!

It doesn’t even matter if the crop is messed up, just so long as you nail the facial expression in such a way that the viewer feels the excitement too.

What I love about this shot, other than the awesome natural pose, is the dimensional effect that shooting with a very wide aperture gives. The fact that he is in focus, and the background is blurry, makes him pop out of the screen (almost).

This is another example of that. I love this shot for the action, the feeling, the blurry background. It tells a story of the game and puts you in the scene.

I love this shot because it shows that young adults, with all the drama that goes with being in middle school, can still just be kids.

I could never hula. Never got the hang of it like they have.

Love this beach ball noodle hockey action shot!

This is just after the spin-your-head-around-the-baseball-bat game. Little disoriented.

He’s just come off the baseball bat too. Love this shot!

Each class had to hold hands and move the hula hoop from one end of the class to the other, with the hoop going over and under each person without breaking the chain.

Awesome.

Love this shot!

There’s Brad again, on the right. He’s SO tall!

In this picture, a group of 5th grade girls are watching the 8th grade Homeroom Wars with great envy. I love it! It’s so cool to be the “seniors” of the school!

Another one of my faves. I love it when I have my camera pointed at a group of people and they glance over and smile at me!

I wish I knew the story behind this handshake, but I don’t.

Friends forever!

Not all of the homeroom war activities were sports-related. There was also a drawing contest, with the winning drawing, I assume, being used on the graduation programs. In addition, there was a sudoku contest and a build-the-tallest tower challenge involving spaghetti noodles and marshmallows.

THE WINNING HOMEROOM!
On behalf of all the kids, thanks to all the teachers who put the day’s events together. And thanks to all the parents and teachers who worked on the graduation dance. The kids had a blast at the dance! The slide show pictures are a testament to what a fun time everyone had!
Coming soon! Graduation pictures and hopefully an awesome slide show! Here’s hoping it doesn’t rain!
What we the stiers like about these shot that it’s apart of EMS you NEVER see. Thanks looks like they had a great day….
Ahhh to be young again.
I just love the pure emotion that oozes from your work. The kids and parents of EMS are super lucky!
Great pictures…great kids…great FUN!! Love this post (and yes, Brad is seriously TALL!)
The kids (and their parents) are so lucky to have these pictures. It’s refreshing to see teenagers just being kids and having a great time together. What a fun day. Julie, you bring so much heart to your work.
This looks like such a fun day at school–your images really make me feel like I might have been there. Leaving your site with a smile on my face.
