A Bird, a Bird and a Rabbit
- Another fun pet-sitting job for Brad. Isn’t she a pretty bird?
- This one is actually inside the cage for this shot, the cage walls blurred by my shallow depth of field.
- Is it a pet-sitting perk to visit the blog and see your baby?
- I think Brad rather liked this bird, but I have to admit that I’m not really sure what kind of bird this is. Looks too small to be a parrot, and seems too noisy to be a parakeet. I’m kind of bird-challenged, as you can see.
- She’s a cool bird though, walking around, showing off, squaking. (Grex hung out in the basement with the rabbit.)
- Brad has a way with animals — I couldn’t believe he had the bird walking on his arm and shoulders within minutes of letting her out of her cage. As for me, I was standing in the corner, kind of hiding actually, standing very still. Is it true that if you don’t move, they can’t see you? The only thing moving was my shutter. I don’t think she liked the clicking very much.
- Back in her birdcage with clean water and a little exercise, we take our camera and head for home.

My family calls me "the mamarazzi."
Wow, what pretty birds! The bunny’s a cutie too. I really like the one with the blurry background — it kind of makes it seem like the bird was moving and grooving (was it actually swinging?).
No, it wasn’t swinging. I was just using a REALLY wide aperture, which means the focus point was razor thin. (Had to cut through the cage, so to speak, and focus on just the bird’s eye so that something would be in focus.) Plus, it was pretty dark in the room, and I didn’t want to scare the birds with a flash, so shooting extra wide lets in lots of natural light and makes any background clutter (cage, food bin, toys) beautiful instead of busy.
I love that picture of the parakeet because of how cool the stuff around the bird looks — well, and the bird looks cool too.
It’s not a macaw! It’s a sun conure!! I used to have one named peanut!
They are really sweet birds but VERY noisy!

Pretty birds. I think that first one is a Macaw and the second one is a parakeet.
These are such cool pics!! I love it that Brad is good with animals :O) Maybe that bird is some kind of McCaw? My sister would know (remember, Miss Bird Brain?) She knows ALL of these kinds of birds!!
