Oh, and I remember that snow storm too!! My Dad's VW bus couldn't make it up the hill of our driveway! Seems we didn't have power either and we cooked hot dogs in the fireplace. Great memories!! :D

It really does look like Aiken...especially that shot of Main Street. If not for the snow I would think it was Aiken! Plus, the picture of Borough Hall reminds me of the old Aiken Post Office...rounded building on a corner. Now don't tell me Metuchen also has a fountain in the middle with two children holding an umbrella!! :D

One of the reasons I liked Metuchen in the first place was that it reminded me of Aiken with its canopy of trees over the streets. And I do remember this one giant snow storm in Aiken when Susan and I were in kindergarten. My dad's car got stuck in the the circular driveway in front of Aiken Day School and I was so proud because the principal helped push us out. Funny thing about going to school in Aiken -- as a kindergarten student, I normally walked home from school by myself. Wow, I TOTALLY can't imagine that now -- sending a 5-year-old off by herself. How times have changed.

Jules -LOVE these pictures! I can enjoy the pretty snow (which SC never gets) by living vicariously through your lens! I particularly love the thorn bush shot. Metuchen looks SO much like Aiken, it's uncanny! :D

The blue and white characters on the mural from left to right are Totoro, Chu Totoro and Chibi Totoro (his two companions in the woods). I've got a pic of Totoro as my icon on facebook and no one has ever asked me "What the heck is that, Bill?" So how cool to see it drawn on a mural in your hometown! I proudly tell my friends that you have been to an actual Totoro store! Were you allowed to take any pics there?
