Check back soon for more pictures of my October Glory Red Maple, and the tree’s progress since we first planted him in honor of Bradley in 1999. Hint: in an attempt to block the backyard neighbor’s house, we have SUCCESS!
Red maple seeds, aka "helicopter seeds" have taken flight and crashed landed in my driveway....
So much for the grass…love the trees! Enjoying your posts!
Hi, Julie! I am looking to plant a tree in my front yard to provide shade and to grow with the family. The red October glory maple is one of the trees I am considering, and your website has been extremely helpful. The surface roots and loss of grass seem a bit of a problem, though. Can you share with me how far from the trunk the surface roots have spread?, and to what diameter the grass loss has spread?
Julie! Your pictures are just awesome. I was just looking at your tree pictures over at “A Tree Grower’s Diary”, and was curious to see how your Greenspire Linden was doing. I just planted one of similar size last weekend, and am anxious to see what I may be in store for.
I’m wondering about the surface roots and grass. Is there any grass left? I mean, with all that shade?
LOL. No, not much grass left, much to the dismay of my husband.
Always LOVE your tree pictures!!
