I love hanging out at the Metuchen pool, finding friends there, and taking fun pictures of the kids (and some of us who love summer because it reminds us so much of when we were kids.) Lots more Metuchen pool pictures below and a sneak peak coming soon too for my friend, Caroline! Everybody loves the slide and the diving board and the underwater camera too!

Awesome!

The lifeguard wasn’t too crazy about this shot. (Must keep things moving along, you know.)

It’s not so easy to get these shots because I like to get a blurry background, so I have to shoot with a wide aperture, and I also use a long lens and stand all the way on the other side of the pool, and becasue the kids are obviously jumping at jumping speed, sometimes it’s hard to expose the shot correctly AND get the focus right too. That’s one of the reasons I love taking pictures at the pool — it gives me practice shooting in lots of different situations so that when I NEED to get a shot like that, I’ll instantly know how to get it. So, thanks, kids!

It’s also not so easy to manage hitting the shutter button right when a kid is hitting the bottom of the slide. All the settings on the camera have to be just right, and I stand with my finger on the shutter and react the split second I see a toe popping out. This is also good practice in being ready for anticipating moments.

I like pictures from the side of the slide the best.

Some of the kids were jumping off the side of the pool too. It’s so funny because I’ll walk over and they’re like “Oooh take a picture of meeeeeee!” And Boom! They instantly jump in and I’m standing there like, “Wait!” (Thinking the settings are all wrong, and I’m too close, hence the chopped off arm, and wondering what’s behind me and will I fall over someone if I start walking backwards without looking…)

Trash cans. Yuck. I told Grex this morning as we were looking at the pictures, “Trash cans, powerlines and exit signs. Bleah.” He suggested I start a Fail Blog-like website with all the pictures I’ve ever taken that I felt were ruined by trash cans, powerlines and exit signs. Pretty funny, but NOBODY WOULD LOOK AT IT!!!!

More slide pictures…

Oooh! One of my photography assistants, Christina, had the underwater camera in the deep end, so you all can thank Christina for this cool shot! Thanks, Christina!

I love diving board series. Here’s 1…

…This one was a bit later though.

Impressive height on that jump!

I love giving the underwater camera to kids I know and then coming home to see what random pictures end up on there. So fun!

FAVE!

Love the splash too. My camera (the pro camera, not the underwater one) has an awesome continuous shutter function. Very cool for sequence shots like this.

So random. I love it.

I love action shots and pictures that show kids having a great time.

There’s the continuous shutter at work again.

Love this one!

Here’s another sequence. 1…

Love the color in this one and the random swimmers off in the background.

FAVE!! Look ma! No chopped fingers or toes either!

LOL! That’s an underwater shot too, in case you weren’t sure.

Lots of cool action shots of him!

Here’s the splash from that last one.

Lots more pool pictures coming tomorrow, a sneak peak for my friend, Caroline!

Bye for now!
Check out our underwater pictures at the Metuchen pool!...
Grex was so excited to share the awesome Metuchen pool with his 'cousins.'...
Awesome pics Jules! Those are some cute kids
One thing though…we’re going to need you to go back and take some more shots because Jacob passed the swim test yesterday!! He’s ready to go down the slide and off the board for you.
That’s AWESOME!!!! Please let me know when you’re going and I’ll try to get my crew to go too!
I just LOVE these pictures!! So much fun.
Thanks Kelli! I love them too — I’ll love looking at them in winter. Sigh. Because I really don’t like winter very much.
These are so much fun! Reminds me of my teen years going to the pool in my town. Well, pre-teen I guess. Anyway, great fun. You have a great camera.
