This family session happened in late September, on a very warm day. It seems like so long ago now that winter has set in. Add to that the fact that Eileen and AJ don’t even live in the same house anymore, and it really seems like forever ago!
See below for more images from their family lifestyle photo shoot. Send me a message or leave a comment if you’d like to see their slide show.

It was Harry’s birthday!

We started the day at the beach.

But we didn’t stay long because AJ was sacked by a wave and was soaked! Wish I had been watching when that happened because THAT would have been an awesome picture!

Fave!

Always bring Johnson’s baby powder to beach shoots. Especially if the kids are sand-sensitive.

It’s so fun to follow Harry around because he gazes at my camera in the sweetest of ways.

Rocket Balloons!

This picture makes their old backyard look like a jungle. I love that we were able to do this shoot in the house where the kids lived when they were born. Soon they will be in a brand new house! Can’t wait to document the new rooms!

While they lived in that house, the kids were great friends with the kids next door, also clients of mine. I think we will all remember those days with fondness. It’s really so special that between the two families, the time when they all lived next-door to each other is well-documented.

Can’t believe that even the baby is looking at me!

Airplane!

Harry does this awesome action figure pose thing! Go Harry! He looks so old in this picture though, which kind of freaks me out since I’ve been photographing him since he was a newborn.

Not sure what do do for your family photo shoot? If it’s hot out, get out the hose!

Not sure who had more fun: the kids or AJ.

Love it!

Another fave!

Eileen also bought Rocket Balloons for the little informal party.

I’m also glad we were able to document the family’s old kitchen. Almost everything important happens in the kitchen!

Love this one!

Love this mother/daughter hug too.

The grandparents came over to help Harry eat some of his birthday cake. And get a few hugs.

Since the extended family was there for the party anyway, I did a few quick family shots.

Their oldest is the same age as my son, so I totally understood his reluctance to being photographed.

That didn’t mean I couldn’t have a little fun with it.

But this one’s my fave.

Eileen and her brother and sister. Aren’t we loving the penguins?! Love love love the penguins!

One of Eileen’s oldest friends was at the party too. (Note to blog readers who go to my church — don’t you think that little girl looks a lot like Sammie? Wow! She could play “young Samantha Cook” in the movie of Sammie’s life.)

I love it when the light and shadows cooperate at family sessions.

Singing the birthday song to Harry — I love the dreamy quality of this picture. The 3rd birthday is always kind of special to me since the one and only picture my mom has of me as child was taken on my 3rd birthday. With chocolate cake. Just like Harry’s. Yay.
It may rain tomorrow, but today, it's a beautiful day. Time to do nothing but play....
From football to Christmas cookies: a family shoot that makes me want sugar cookies!...
Love the water shots and the backlit fun family portraits. Loving the penguins too!
