Never Say Goodbye
Friday was our last day at the Circle G Ranch, but I feel so close to Sunny, I’ll never say goodbye! Above, our “Mr. Tumbleweed” moves in. It was a great story that the kids all seemed to love. That makes me so happy.

The theme for the day was “Give thanks.” The kids usually have no trouble finding it in their hearts to be thankful for the firetruck!
Some of us big kids seem to love the firetruck too!
The mission team collected fully stocked backpacks for homeless children in New Jersey. If you want contact information for similar mission projects let me know. It was a really down-to-earth local project that will clearly make a difference in the lives of several children. I’m proud of the mission team for researching it and making it happen.
The decorating team did a great job too! Since our program was more than 5 years old, we hadn’t saved very many of the original decorations or program books so we ended up making up most of it ourselves. Er, well, that would be the case for my team, the assembly team. I rewrote the whole assembly plan. It was worth it though. The kids LOVED the Mr. Tumbleweed story line, especially how it ended!
My photography assistants, Gabe and Melissa, did a great job. So proud of both of them!
I’ve never been so comfortable in my VBS costume as I am in the Dusty costume.
The number of people participating in the VBS program has more than tripled too! Wow!
The Singing Cowboy from Wild West City performed at our closing celebration. He was GREAT!
Friday at VBS is always bittersweet for me. Usually by then I’m exhausted, but also sad to see the program ending.
But, as usual, VBS isn’t over for me once the Friday program is over because we still had one more skit during church on Sunday. There was a great turnout for that and the kids sang beautifully!

Look at us now. My, how we’ve changed. I’m truly sad to think that Sunny won’t be making me laugh every single day. I’ve grown accustomed to having him hanging around the barn. Still, I know he won’t be far away. Everyone at our church loves the Circle G Ranch, so I’m sure we’ll bring that one back out of the closet several years from now. In all honesty, I could do Circle G every year. Sunny and Dusty — we’ve got that one nailed.
