Alison + Rob

Wow, I love Alison’s hair in this picture — and what a great dip! If you know Alison and Rob, and would like to see their slide show, leave a comment or send me email and I’ll hook you up with the link. It’s so cute!

Don’t they look like a jcrew ad or what?

Alison and Rob live in the Washington area, and asked me to do some custom “postcard shots.”

Here’s a postcard of the happy couple!
:)

I have my reasons for throwing things off center sometimes. More to come in a separate blog post next week about that. Meanwhile, can you guess why I do that sometimes?

I had such a great time hanging out with these two! I can’t wait for the wedding! It’s going to be so much fun!

Love this one! You may recognize this couple from last year’s Metuchen Memorial Day pictures. Rob was one of the Grand Marshals in the parade, with Alison by his side.

They wanted to include their pets in their engagement session. That’s Toby.

This one totally cracks me up. See, we were hanging out with Toby in the parking lot when all of a sudden this woman, a stranger to all of us, slams the brakes on her car, jumps out, runs over to Toby and throws herself completely around the dog in a long, tight embrace. I love Alison’s reaction! I’m surprised Toby didn’t bite her! He’s such a good doggie!

So, here’s today’s contest question. Win Alison and Rob a free 8×10 by posting a comment with the correct answer.

Hint. Q: How many pets do Alison and Rob have?

Sort of another hint. Hints all over the slide show though because Alison has plans to print close ups of her babies’ faces as 5×5’s and frame them in large white mats for the living room. I love that idea! I love how Alison and Rob planned their engagement session to incorporate some of the places and the little family they love so much.

Thanks again, Alison and Rob! Can’t wait for July!

Alisa Loves Jason

Click the picture, or click here, for Alisa and Jason’s slide show. When the show ends, it will jump back here where you can answer a question and win Alisa and Jason an 8×10 print!

We were all over the Upper West Side of New York City, but spent a lot of time in Central Park. This is over-looking Turtle Pond at Belvedere Castle.

They are such a fun couple!

    This one is my favorite.

Or maybe this one is my favorite.

This one looks like the cover shot for a romantic movie poster. (This is where my posing inspiration for engagement sessions comes from — I study movie posters.)

Sometimes when I ask people to lay down on the ground and make silly faces, I get the strangest looks back, as if to say, “YOU lay down on the ground and make silly faces!” But Alisa and Jason had no fear!

Love the simple drama of this one.

Alisa and Jason live in West Virginia. They met in West Virginia, but when they first started dating, they both lived in the New York City area. This is the club where they had their first date, Dive 75.

Jason’s only request of the day was for me to take a picture of them eating a hot dog from a street vendor. Only problem was that by the time we found one, they must have been starving (you know, from the rigorous photo-shoot workout I give people) because they chomped that hot dog so fast I barely had time to make sure I had the exposure set right on my camera. Yikes! Good thing I’m pretty fast with all the buttons on my new camera now.

This is Alisa’s requested shot. She loves it when Jason picks her up and swings her around. I love the flying pearls!

This is my requested shot. What is it about feet that say so much about people?

We had lunch in the cutest little restaurant with GREAT window light!

And even though my working space was, a-hem, cozy (thank God for my wide angle lens), Alisa and Jason had a private table in the corner! How cool is that?

Alisa forgot to paint her nails, so she did it while waiting for the quiche. Jason helped out. He’s so sweet.

I figured the folks back home in West Virginia would get a kick out of a few subway shots. There’s more in the slide show. Note that we were riding the subway at rush hour. It was packed!

I love this ring shot! Such a beautiful ring too!

Here’s today’s contest question: Be the first person to post a comment with the correct answer, and Alisa and Jason will win a free 8×10 and you’ll win lots of gushing blog praise!

Name the restaurant where we had lunch, and name the movie that made it famous.

Have fun! Thanks, Alisa and Jason, for a great day!

Sarah and Ben Engaged!

Click the picture

for Sarah and Ben’s engagement session.

Be sure to turn up the sound! When the slide show is finished, it will jump back here where you can leave a comment for Sarah and Ben and answer a fun contest question to win them an 8×10 print! Have fun!

I love fall shoots!

I was being really still, waiting for Sarah and Ben to do something spontaneous when this squirrel decided to join in our photo shoot. He sat there for a good while, until I snapped the picture. I guess the shutter click freaked him out.

Probably a good thing Sarah and Ben’s doggies were elsewhere at the time!

A sweet family unportrait. :)

I LOVE this one!

And the light in this one looks beautiful on Sarah’s hair.

Love the light in this one too, but for an entirely different reason.

Name the specific college campus where we were shooting.

I’ll give you a hint. There’s a famous pond there with one of those great colege legends. (There’s a nice picture of the pond in the slide show.) Bonus blog praise for the commenter that tells the legend.

One of my all-time favorites. I love fall colors!

Thanks Sarah and Ben! Say hi to the doggies for me!

A Teaser for Sarah and Ben

Sarah and Ben are getting married next May, so we took some engagement photos at Rutgers recently. I’m working on their slide show now, but wanted to put up a little teaser.
Be on blog watch, Sarah and Ben!

You’re going to love it!

I LOVE my job!

Oooh! One more for now —->

(I’m SUCH a tease!)

Anissa and Kenny Engaged!

Click the picture
— or click here —
for Anissa and Kenny’s engagement pictures.

The picture above is a clue to today’s contest question. Get it right and you will win Anissa and Kenny a free 8×10 print! When the slide show is finished, it will jump back here where you can keep reading to find the question buried in the post. Have fun!

I don’t know what Anissa was doing but it’s so cute!

They seem so perfect for each other and so happy to be together!

Sweet nothings, or maybe something, I don’t know.
They were whispering.

Their first-date-restaurant, in their favorite town.

Love the colors!

Kenny wanted a picture with just Anissa in it. Beautiful!

So we did one with just Kenny for Anissa. How adorable is HE?
This was just after coaxing him to give us a “GQ look,” which made Anissa laugh, which brought out Kenny’s “I know where you live” look. LOVE it!

LOVE the ring shots!

Love this one too.

What’s the name of that park?

Not that many parks have carousels. Standing on a moving carousel backwards while balancing a camera bag full of lenses and a big camera all the while trying to adjust the manual settings so as to keep the subject in focus but let the background look like it’s zooming by is not the easiest thing to do. If you’re a photographer thinking of trying this, my advice is DON’T LOOK DOWN.

This one’s not in the slide show. Anissa, check your e-mail in a little while for a notification about your full gallery, from which you can pick your free 8×10, assuming somebody gets the answer right.
Hint. Hint.

I had so much fun that day! Thank you both so much!

Coffeetable Album Preview

My new coffeetable albums are so nice! This is the book case that holds Laci’s cute little 5×5 album.

Maybe you remember seeing the preview design when I posted that a while back.

In addition to a printed book jacket, the hard cover itself is also printed.

The pages are thick and beautiful, thicker than the nicest coffeetable books I saw at the huge bookstore in the mall the other day. I fully recommend these books to my family session and portrait clients. They’re BEAUTIFUL!

If you’re booking a wedding with me and are interested in a guest album from your engagement session pictures, this is the style book I would design for you. (Except it would be a bit larger to make it easy for your guests to write notes for you.)

The binding is sturdy.

This book will last a really long time.

The printing came out pretty much exactly as I hoped it would.

The colors are rich and the textures I added to the pages using photographs of fabrics are GORGEOUS!

Check back tomorrow to find out what’s underneath our cute little coffeetable book! The RED THING is AMAZING!

Jennifer and Derek: Engaged!

Jennifer-Derek-016.jpg"

Check out Jennifer and Derek’s engagement session!
Click the picture
— or click here —
for the slide show! After the show, it will jump back here where you’ll find another question in my JUNE CONTEST SERIES! Read carefully and HAVE FUN!

Jennifer-Derek-026.jpg"

Aren’t they so cute? I think Jennifer looks like a movie star! And Derek has a killer smile!

Jennifer-Derek-042.jpg"

Sweet!

Jennifer-Derek-066.jpg"

Jennifer’s favorite thing to do: wedding planning in the hammock with her sweetie!

Jennifer-Derek-069.jpg"

Ok, maybe she has more than one favorite thing.

Jennifer-Derek-082.jpg"

Love this pose.

Jennifer-Derek-0906.jpg"

Can’t take credit for this one. It was their idea. So cute!

Jennifer-Derek-097.jpg"

But I did learn through their engagement session questionnaire that they’ve been taking dance lessons. LOVE the dance moves!

Jennifer-Derek-114.jpg"

I also love the evening light. Beautiful.

Jennifer-Derek-123.jpg"

Jennifer’s other dog, Petey, was at a sleepover that day so we only got to shoot one of her dogs. Jennifer says Petey feels like an orphan since he’s not in the pictures. Little sibling rivalry here. Yikes!

Jennifer-Derek-129.jpg"

Love this shot.

Jennifer-Derek-140.jpg"

I can’t help myself. I LOVE this dog!

If you didn’t check out Jennifer and Derek’s slide show yet, here’s the link again.
Just click here.

And here’s today’s contest question:

Jennifer-Derek-065.jpg"

What affliction did I get while taking St. Francis’s picture?

Prize for the first commenter to guess the correct answer: a $10 iTunes gift card delivered via e-mail. Have fun!
