On Location With Steve

Click the picture
— or click here —
and turn up the sound for a little slide show from my winter daytrip to the beach with Steve.

What is it about sunflare that I love so much?

    Steve is a writer.
Check out his Web site here.

What I love about this one is the use of the off-camera light to evenly light the outside of this old abandoned building and Steve on the inside as well.

I love the depth in this picture. Can you name the location? Bradley knew it instantly, remembering hordes of mosquitoes the last time he was there in summer. No mosquitoes now. That’s ice by the tracks. Brrrr.

Little tree growing on the beach.

Little tree gets a close up too. I have no idea what kind of tree that is.

But that tree in the background of Steve’s smiley headshot is an easy one. Know what it is? One of my favorites for winter interest because of that splotchy bark. Lots of blog praise for the correct answer.

Thanks again, Steve! You pick the coolest locations for your pictures!

My Coffeetable Needed SOMEthing Besides Legos

Just a few pictures of my new flush mount album.

I used pictures from my shoot with Funk Thunder to make the sample.

I loved the pictures from that band shoot. This is the style album I include in my wedding packages.

The images extend all the way to the edges of the pages and are mounted on rigid boards.

The book lies flat when open.

Gorgeous soft full grain Italian leather cover.

This is a 30-page book with 15 spreads.

The binding is top notch.

I really like how sturdy the book is.

Beautiful too.

For all you Funk Thunder fans, here’s a quick slide show of my book design. Enjoy!

More Funk Thunder: Telefunken!

Click the picture for Funk Thunder’s new song presentation, Telefunken!

(The picture above is my current favorite picture!)

That’s Steve, with the umbrella, and Kid Sicily, with the guitar, which, by the way, he made himself.

Loyal blog readers may remember these guys from The Captain, a slide show I put together for them last fall.
(Wow, I really love my new logo way better than that old one in that slide show!)

This time, we went on location to Manhattan, covering from Wall Street at Noguchui’s Red Cube to the bandshell at Central Park where we met this guy named Rob. My guys just sat next to him and started jamming. Pretty cool. Too bad the song doesn’t have a djemba beat though.

The new song is about the question of life after death. I think.

I’m not entirely clear on how this old radio relates to all this. Maybe there’s an explanation on Funk Thunder’s site.

I just like this one.

And this one, taken from the roof of a building at Central Park West.

The obligatory Abbey Road shot. (The original is way cooler though. It’s not like I had an assistant to block traffic while I was standing in the middle of Liberty Street.)

The guitar is one of the character actors in this little skit. Funny how the song doesn’t really have much electric guitar sound. Lots of bass though.

Steve’s rings are really cool. I put this one on the iron gate at Trinity Church to get a shot of the engraving. Kinda goes with the song.

This one is Kid Sicily’s fave.

This picture, and the one at the very top of this thread, are two of my all-time favorite urban portrait shots. Very cool.

If you didn’t click over to the slide show yet, here’s another link to it. Thanks again, Steve and Kid, and Rob too, for letting me shoot you! So much fun to shoot in NYC!

Check out more Funk Thunder here!

Oh, and here’s a little contest. The first person to leave a comment with the correct answer wins a $10 iTunes gift certificate delivered via e-mail. Steve and Kid — you’re not eligible.

Here’s the question: The inside of Steve’s ring is featured in the slide show. It’s engraved with a famous quote.

What is the quote and who said it?

Fun and FUNKY!

The new band, Funk Thunder, will be coming out with a CD soon. They asked if I might be able to come up with a few pictures. SO MUCH FUN!

Thanks to the Forum Theater in Metuchen, for lending us their classic sign!

Steve is the lead singer (so funky) and Joe is the chief musician, writing all their neo-pop music with a 60’s twist.

Be the first to see the video! CLICK HERE.

This is Steve’s friend, Steve.

Long-coat-Steve lent us his gorgeous ‘68 Camaro for the photo shoot! Beautiful!

Singer-Steve was loving these high heel shoes.

I think I figured out why the album is titled “Your Move.”

Joe is big in Japan! Or will be soon. Besides having a knack for a fun, funky beat, he BUILT that guitar!
(For my tree-loving fans, yes, of COURSE I asked. It’s POPLAR.)

Thanks to HellHound Studios for letting us use their rehearsal hall. The lighting was way cool, helped give my pictures that funky look.

Steve’s belt buckle is the funkiest thing I’ve yet seen in my lifetime.

If you didn’t click over to the video yet, do it NOW!
It’s the coolest thing I’ve done since, um, ever!

(It’s a good thing I love “The Captain” so much. I’ve listened to that song about 450 times in the last two days to get the timing worked out. Everybody in the house loves it! You guys ROCK! If you ever need pictures again, be sure to call me. I love photography almost as much as I love music!)
